The First Annual International SOA Symposium is a conference dedicated to SOA practitioners, consisting of the top SOA experts and authors from around the world, providing a series of talks, demonstrations, panels, and SOA training and certification workshops.

The theme of the SOA Symposium is "substance only." A nine-person conference planning committee comprised of established SOA professionals from both the media and the practitioner community is committed to ensuring that each session provides in-depth coverage and true educational value for the most important SOA-related topics for SOA practitioners.

Whether Enterprise Service Buses are essential for SOA or quite the opposite - a bad fit for SOA - is an explosive topic. In this discussion we want to address some important questions like: What kind of business value can we get from using ESBs? Are ESBs worth the investment in money and time? How should ESBs be applied? How should they NOT be applied? What are the alternatives to using ESBs? Are ESBs (or any specific technology) important for SOA success? Will an ESB make things simpler or more complicated? The fact that there are multiple ESBs around and that they are rather different makes these questions harder to answer.

The panelists seem to disagree quite a lot on these questions so we should be in for a great discussion.
